Easter services won’t be the same
 
During one of the busiest and most sacred weeks in the Christian faith, every church is finding itself in unique territory this spring with social distancing and a statewide rule that limits gatherings to 10 people. Most are responding with the help of social media.

Man arrested in fatal stabbing
Jeremy Tipton Shuflat, 37, of Wichita, was booked into jail on a charge of first-degree murder. Shuflat was arrested on March 28 for warrants and was later identified as the suspect in the homicide investigation.

Highly anticipated band trip to D.C. canceled
The final decision came from the American Veterans Center, which canceled all National Memorial Day events in Washington, D.C., due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Learning plan enters second week
The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sedgwick County increased from 124 to 134 on April 7. Of that number 23 recovered. There has been one death.

Newton Medical Center announces reductions
Newton Medical Center is furloughing employees and reducing hours at its clinics, including Park City and Valley Center, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
