Mr. and Mrs. Glen F. Whitlow entertained the Hubert L. Greenbanks, Cindy and Alan and Irene Greenbank at a dinner Sunday at the Holiday Inn honoring the birthday anniversary of Betty Greenbank.  

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lambert and 5-month-old daughter Robin will move into the Olin Wilson home Nov. 15.  Mrs. Lambert, or Jenny, began last week working in the Suburban Style Salon formerly run by Mrs. Geo Winter. Mr. Lambert plans to attend W.U. second semester.

Mr. and Mrs. Lee Webster were guests for Sunday dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Anderson, Lindsborg.

Edbert and Ricky Miller spent Thursday to Sunday at Wayne Millers. Edbert attended Teacher's Meeting in Wichita. Mrs. Miller and Susan came Saturday. The Edbert Millers attended a Volley ball game between Shawnee Mission and Valley Center Saturday afternoon in Valley Center.  Afterward they were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Miller.

Tom Hunsinger, formerly of Valley Center, is now living in Nairobi, Kenya, where he has a year's contract as an actor and assistant stage manager for the Donovan Maule Theater. Hunsinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hunsinger, had been living in London, where he worked as an actor.

June Carnahan returned Sunday from Green Mountain Falls, Colo., where she visited her son, Bob, and his family. While there she attended a football game between Woodland Park and Manitou Springs, which Woodland Park won.

Alan Greenbank and Glen Whitlow of Wichita, and Betty and Pete Greenbank and Irene Greenbank of Valley Center and Susie Whitlow helped celebrate Betty's birthday.

The daughter of Barbara and A. J. Burns, rural Valley Center, has won a number of trophies and medals in twirling the past four years while in high school. She also was the featured twirler for the high school band performances at halftime of the football games and basketball games. Burns is a freshman at Butler County Community College.

Bruce Vandegrift of rural Valley Center is traveling this week to Ft. Bennington, Ga., to participate in a protest against The School of Americas, a school run by the U.S. military to train foreign military personnel in tactics of guerrilla warfare, torture and survival. Vandegrift says this school trained military personnel from El Salvador and Guatemala who, in turn, tortured and killed people during the civil wars in that region. Vandegrift is traveling with members of FOCUS, a group that works with El Salvador and peasants trying to build that country up after the civil war. Members of the Wichita Peace Center also will attend. Vandegrift reports that 8,000 other peace advocates are expected to attend the protest Saturday just outside of Columbus, Ga.

Virginia Cross of Valley Center was recognized as the top female platelet donor in the Central Plains blood region during a dinner Monday at the Broadview Hotel in Wichita. The American Red Cross honored Cross for 370 donations of platelets. Platelet donors are eligible to give up to 24 times each year.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Roetke of California visited her aunt, Jessie Hildebrand, and cousins, Al and Twila McKinney of Valley Center, for a few days recently. The Roetkes left Monday for Arizona.

Joy Terry of Valley Canter, a Butler County Community College theater student, will participate in "Little Moon." The theatrical production will be held at the school in El Dorado.

Kristine Rene Nordstedt and John Paul Fiebich were married Oct. 10, 1998, at St. Jude Church, Wichita, with Fr. Doug Campbell officiating. The bride is the daughter of Larry and Jeannine Nordstedt of Valley Center and the granddaughter of George and Mable Nordstedt and the late Micheal and Agnes Gorman. The groom is the son of Paul and Vi Fiebich and the grandson of Ruth and the late George Strohl. Rose Bryan and Joan Bryan, friends of the bride, were vocalists. Organist was Becky Leonard, friend of the bride. Flutist was Brenda Riopel, friend of the bride. Personal attendant was Debbie Rogers, friend of the bride. Karl Fiebich, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Glen Fiebich, brother of the groom. Ringbearer was Laron Nordstedt, brother of the bride. Ushers were John Beckman, friend of the bride, and Scott Nordstedt, cousin of the bride. Gary Smith, friend of the bride, served as lector. Giftbearers were Herb and Cheryl Callender and family, friends of the bride. Reception attendants were Vickey Horton, Debbie Downs and Lindalee Lee, friends of the bride. Sheli Glover and Debbie Spillane were at the guest book, and Carrie Tribute programs, all cousins of the bride. Terilee Nordstedt, cousin of the bride, and Christina Fiebich, sister-in-law of the groom, were at the gift table. Videographer was David Gorman, uncle of the bride. Hairstylist was Kellie Norden, cousin of the bride. After a honeymoon in Kauai, Hawaii, the couple is at home in Valley Center.

Tracey Hampton and Jeff Dexter, both of Wichita, were married June 21, 2003, at East Heights United Methodist Church, Wichita, with Pastor Barry Dundas officiating. The bride is the daughter of Doyle and Mary Hampton of Valley Center. The groom is the son of Bill and Jane Dexter of Winfield. Matron of honor was Shelli McElfresh. Junior bridesmaid was Veronica Dexter, daughter of the groom. Bridal attendants were Mike Hampton, Dave Smith and Aaron Pegorsch. Flower girl was Olivia Johnson. Connor Hampton was the ringbearer. Ushers were Cameron McAllister, Diehanlie Short, Tracey and Jeff Dexter.

Todd Frankenbery was elected a director of the Wichita District Dental Society for 2003-04 at the group's annual business meeting.

Christina and David Guldner of Bel Aire announce the birth of their daughter, Brianna Nicole on Aug. 28, 2008. She weighted 9 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 20 inches long. Brianna joins an older brother, James, 4. Her grandparents are Jeanenne and Derrick Frye of Bel Aire and Mary and Wesley Guldner of Wichita.

Bud and Evelyn Widick of Valley Center will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary Dec. 1, 2008. Bud Widick and Evelyn Willyard were married Dec. 1, 1958 in Wichita. Bud retired from KPL Gas Service after 30 years of service. Evelyn retired in 2000 from USD 262 as a secretary in the district office after 21 years of service. They have three children. The couple also has five grandchildren: Steven, Jamie and Justin Anderson, Branden and Shantel Widick. Bud and Evelyn began their anniversary celebration with an Alaskan cruise and will be having a luncheon with their immediate family. The children have also organized a card shower.
