Around Park City By Cecile Cox Last Updated: August 22, 2013 Rain stalls project on 53rd Street The first Monday of September is Labor Day. It was first celebrated in New York City in 1882 and was sponsored by the Labor Union. This day was set aside to honor labor. Sept. 17th is the Jewish New Year, and is the beginning of ten days of penitence. Then Sept. 27th marks the end of penitence. It's interesting to learn of different holidays. The 2nd Ice Cream Social drew a large crowd. It was good to greet old friends and the weather was perfect that day. There hasn't been much going on at the 53rd St. project, maybe because of all the rain. By early Sept. maybe it will dry up and progress will start again. The Park City Phone books will be distributed this month, so watch for yours. School is off to a good start with students ready to learn. A good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast are important. We have several new businesses in Park City. This is part of what makes a city what it is. The newest business is Ready Roofer at 434 E. 61st St. N. The project manager is Charles Marshall. Their phone number is 293-6160, ext. 129. Call for information or an appointment. "A honest day's work for a honest day's pay." |
