VCMS wrestlers win duals over Haysville West, El Dorado

The Valley Center Middle School wrestling team moved its overall dual record to 6-0 with a pair of Feb. 7 wins against Haysville West and El Dorado at El Dorado. The Hornets won 17 of 18 matches against Haysville West to take the first dual 95-3. Colten Richardson at 80 pounds, Mike Turkali at 90, Mason Beaulieu at 95, Tyler Boone at 105, Sam Weldon at 115, Payton Stoffel at 120, Don Boone at 134, Gavin McDonald at 141, Kaleb Clubb at 155, Malachi Swigart at 180 and Chase Holle at 215 pounds won by pins. Dallas Boone at 85 pounds, Isaac Swigart at 100, Collin Sharp at 110 and Kaden Lewis at 127 pounds won by decision. Isaac Black at 148, Tony Adams at 165 and Hagan Henderson at 265 won by forfeit in open weights.

The Hornets won 12 of 18 matches against El Dorado and beat the hosts 66-30. Richardson, Dallas Boone, Turkali, Tyler Boone, Sharp, Weldon, McDonald, Boone, Clubb, Black Malachi Swigart and Henderson won by pins. Lewis and Adams won by decision with Beaulieu taking an open weight win.

The Hornet junior varsity also had a strong showing against Haysville West and El Dorado. Junior varsity winners against Haysville West included Zach Quandt at 110 pounds, Dayton Watkins-Horsley and Chase Ramirez at 115, Tyler Miller at 120 and Brayden Moler at 120, Trace Tobin at 127, Brett Hamm at 134 and Evan Morales at 148. Against El Dorado, JV winners included Watkins-Horsley, Ramirez, Jorah Nickelson and Miller at 120, Tobin, and Koby Herbst and Isaac Neil at 155.

Next up for the Hornets is a Feb. 14 trip to Haysville for a pair of duals against the hosts and Goddard.
