Frustrations: Burned food, doctor visits

Good news, bad news.

February was a short month full of holidays and happy times, with more sunshine.

“Sweet are the uses of adversity, which like the ugly toad wears yet a precious jewel in his head. And this, our life, finds tongues in trees, books in running brooks, sermons in stones and good in everything.” William Shakespeare.

Verse of the week: “I will instruct thee and teach you the way you should go and I will counsel thee.” Psalms 32:8.

We are blessed to live in Kansas.

“What would a trip through Kansas yield? The Flint Hills and golden field, big town sophistication, small town cooperation, a soft breeze or gusty wind, a straight road or one that bends, storm clouds or gray skies or blue, plenty of hunting and fishing, too, most all you want is found right here. Heart of America, the great Midwest, all refer to Kansas, the state we love the best.” By Karen Evans, one of our Sunflower ladies.

Happy birthday in March to Kathryn Mertins, Pat Cain and Loretta Bell.

Keep in prayer all our troops and families, the school kids, all travelers and our leaders.

May God bless the U.S.A.

We put up with the bad stuff: the Iraqi War, toxic waste, politics, tornadoes, job loss, loss of loved ones, aches and pains, earthquakes, bad crops, crazy weather and bad roads under repair. Good news: kids who turned out well, good families, potluck meals with your favorites foods, seeing longtime friends, holidays, quest for peace by all nations, good health, great walks outdoors, good music and flowers in bloom.

Thanks to the Lay family for a great Valentine’s party entertainment with violins of all sizes.

What is your favorite food, song, person, color, book, holiday, season, time of day, clothing, game, tree, car, hero, Bible verse, joke
and poem? It’s a great way to get to know you.

Welcome to Barb Ridenaur, a new one here.

Bob Hope said, “If you haven’t any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble.”

“What the world needs now is more love and less paperwork.” Pearl Bailey.

“It costs more now to satisfy one lad than it did years ago to educate his dad.” Lorene Workman.

Sunflower frustrations: a missing piece to a puzzle, burned food, falls and bruises, doctor trips, bugs, barking dogs, locked doors, late mail, rainy days on a picnic day, lost mail, too much junk mail, being short of quarters on laundry day, missing a bunch of family, a stalled car, a very low budget at month’s end, ice (except in a glass of water) and to oversleep.

Be a “Can-Do” Kansas, be a good Amer-I-can.
