Valley Center High School band students participated in the 2009 Kansas Music Educators Association All-State Band auditions Jan. 10 in Salina.

Of the 11 students who originally made the South Central Kansas Music Educators Association District Band in the fall, six were selected to take part in All-State Band.

They were: Brian Simpson, senior, bass guitar, KMEA Jazz Band; Jenna Miller, senior, first chair French horn, KMEA Concert Band; Jordan Wells, junior, fourth clarinet, KMEA Concert Band; Jacob Miller, junior, fourth trombone, KMEA Concert Band; Brandon Lay, junior, second violin, KMEA Orchestra; and Haley Roe, senior, alternate oboe, KMEA Concert Band.

Jenna Miller accomplished a rare feat in becoming one of only a handful of students to make All-State Band three years in a row during her eligibility to audition for the group. Students are eligible during their sophomore, junior and senior years.
