Park City considers taking over 45th Street water line Taylor Messick Bel Aire has been attempting to give the line to Park City or Wichita but neither has agreed. Now, Wichita has planned a reconstruction of the intersection at 45th and Hillside, which cuts through the water line. Wichita will only service customers east of Hillside; so Bel Aire must either reroute or abandon the line.

Police investigate embezzlement The News staff Police received a report Jan. 2 that about $1,295 was missing from the Valley Center Middle School Junior Booster Club's bank account. The Junior Booster Club supports school activities and athletics.

Teacher remembered as encourager Chris Strunk Riley Greenwood, a longtime Boy Scout leader who taught science at Valley Center High School for 33 years and helped start the school's popular clay target shooting club, died at his Valley Center home unexpectedly Jan. 8. He was 59 years old.

Two arrested in separate sex crimes The News staff Sedgwick County authorities arrested a 33-year-old man Dec. 30 after investigating a report of a sexual assault against a juvenile female in Park City.

Valley Center department grows to improve coverage Chris Strunk The Valley Center Fire Department started 2018 with double the number of full-time firefighters, a move that will allow the department to increase shifts to include evenings and weekends.
