    Sandra Lynne Cody, 68, of Halstead, died Dec. 29, 2017. She had lived in Halstead since 1996.

Park City
Park City resident dies from carbon monoxide poisoning Taylor Messick
    Police said the victim was temporarily living in a detached building at the residence and was using a gas-powered cooking stove to partially heat the building. Police believe insufficient ventilation allowed the carbon monoxide to accumulate and aren't sure if the stove was faulty or in poor condition. They also said it seems likely the victim died while asleep.

    The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said a vehicle was northbound on Ridge Road just before 2 a.m. when the driver noticed a second vehicle approaching from behind at a high rate of speed.
Longtime high school teacher dies Chris Strunk
    Greenwood, who taught in the school district for more than three decades, died at his home on Ora Court in Valley Center.

    A Wichita man was arrested on misdemeanor theft charges after a Valley Center police officer allegedly witnessed him stealing from a local business.
Marked stolen, U-Haul returned The News staff
    A U-Haul truck reported stolen in Chicago was recovered in Valley Center Dec. 30, but police said there was no foul play.
