Associate minister joins Christian church staff The News staff Martinez has worked with teenagers for 15 years, with experiences ranging from teaching at a private Christian school, working with troubled teens at detention facilities, coaching soccer and 10 years of church ministry. He has lived in the Wichita area for most of his life, with the exception of a few years when he lived in Springfield, Mo., to attend Baptist Bible College, where he graduated with a bachelor of science in pastoral and biblical studies. He and his family moved back to Valley Center, where they have lived for a total of 14 years. His wife, Gennifer, has been a speech therapist for 12 years and is currently working with the Wichita school district.

Kechi police adding new weapons Taylor Messick Kechi can have up to two officers on duty at once and the department has been sharing its lone rifle in case of emergencies. Officers carry handguns and vehicles are equipped with shotguns. Now, the department will also have rifles in both of its patrol vehicles.
