Mop head ruins lift station sewer pump Taylor Messick The Bel Aire sewer lift station located at 37th North and Harding ran into some major issues last month when both of its pumps went down at the same time. One was salvaged while the other was destroyed due to the carelessness of an unknown customer.

Effort to honor veterans worthy There is an organization forming in Valley Center that deserves recognition and support.

Valley Center loses with property tax lid But thanks to a state-imposed tax lid that goes into effect in 2018, the City of Valley Center can't fully take advantage of a spike in assessed property valuation. That's because the tax lid is based on the consumer price index and not real growth, such as residential and commercial additions to the tax rolls.

Police seek whereabouts of mother and child Chris Strunk Valley Center police this week were searching for a young family that left the area without telling family members.

School board to meet July 10 The News staff The Valley Center school board will meet at 7 p.m. July 10 at the District Office. The board will elect board officers and vote on a list of routine items to start the fiscal year.
