Valley Center players earn NBC state title The News Staff The Wichita Kings, mainly made up of Valley Center High School and Wichita Heights High School baseball players, won the NBC 16-under State Championship July 10 at Westurban in Wichita.

City to have alcohol hearing The News Staff The Valley Center City Council will meet at 7 p.m. July 19 at City Hall. The council plans to have a public hearing on a request from Jerry's Tex-Mex at Fifth and Meridian to waive the church-distance requirement for alcohol sales. The council will vote on the request later in the meeting.

Two arrested in fight at Casey’s The News Staff On July 8, Valley Center City police responded to Casey's General Store, 222 S. Meridian, for a physical disturbance. An employee said two men got into a loud, verbal argument inside the store.
