Hornets fifth at league tennis, prepare for regionals Randy Fisher The Hornets were fifth in the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League II meet. Their top placer was the doubles team of Rachel Binau and Jessica Sharp, who went 2-2 and finished sixth. On the singles side, Carly Espinosa (2-1) fought back from a tough first-round loss with a bye and two victories for ninth. Courtney Sayers and Jacque Toews (1-2) were 11th in doubles, while Elle Kabler (1-3) was 12th in singles.

30 new duplexes underway in Valley Center The News staff The City of Valley Center issued 47 building permits in September for a total valuation of $2.3 million. Of that number, 31 were for new residences. Thirty of those were for duplexes on Redbud in the Ridgefield subdivision north of Fifth and east of Kessler.
