CAROL WALKER Carol Ann Walker, 66, of South Hutchinson, died Feb. 2, 2015. She was the head cook at Trinity Catholic High School in Hutchinson and had worked at Jackson Frozen Foods.

CHARLES SPROUT Charles Joseph Sprout, 81, died Feb. 6, 2015. He was a retired aircraft inspector.

PAULINE MONTGOMERY Pauline O. (Miller) Montgomery, 86, died Feb. 5, 2015. She had worked as a waitress and a liquor store clerk.

SHARRON UMHOLTZ Sharron Joy (Hamby) Umholtz, 64, of Valley Center, died Feb. 3, 2015. She was a reading specialist and preschool teacher at the First United Methodist Church in Valley Center.

Park City issues 8 permits in Jan. The News staff The City of Park City issued eight building permits last month for a total valuation of $661,300. Of that number, two were for new homes and one was for a large commercial remodeling project.

Park City leaves water, sewer rates alone David Dinell There will be no changes in water and sewer rates for Park City's residential and commercial customers in 2015. At its Feb. 10 meeting, the Park City council voted to keep rates the same.

Hutch administrator to lead Wheatland Chris Strunk Adelyn Soellner, assistant principal at an elementary school in Hutchinson, was named Wheatland principal Feb. 9. She will replace Andy Gottlob, who was interim principal during this school year after the resignation of Kathy Bradham.

Police seek suspects in church vandalism Chris Strunk Valley Center police are looking for the suspects who snuck into a church and lit several matches in an apparent attempt to start a fire Feb. 7.

Rec commission seeks help naming golf course The News staff The Valley Center Recreation Commission is sponsoring a contest to name the new golf facility and help design its logo. The contest is open to all residents of USD 262 who are 18 years of age and older.
