FOOTBALL PICKS: Newcomer wins football picks Week 6

Newcomer Rick Thornton won Week 6 of the Ark Valley News football picks.

Thornton, who submitted an entry for the first time this season, had 17 of 20 correct picks and broke a seven-way tie with the closest tiebreaker guess of 51. The combined final score of the Kansas City Chiefs' win over the Washington Football Team was 44 (31-13). Thornton wins $25 in Football Bucks.

Barbara Carroll had 17 correct picks and the next closest tiebreaker guess of 55 to win second place. Carroll wins $20 in Football Bucks

Harold Bohlmann had 17 correct picks and a tiebreaker guess of 56 for third place. Bohlmann wins $15 in Football Bucks.

This week's prizes can be picked up at Johnson Automotive, 230 S. Sheridan.

The others who had 17 (and their tiebreaker guesses) were Andrea Porter (58), Heath Royal (61), Andrew Haden (63) and Kalvin Schotte (69).

Seventeen people had 16 correct picks. They were Mike Haden, Gordon Reddoch, Mike Turner, Doug O'Rear, Caleb Clark, Ernesto Salas, Gary Anderson, Cameron McDaniel, Tammy Wormington, Bob Scantlin, Rex Victory, Tyson Schotte, Tom Cornwell, Dan Schmidt, Danell Wilbur, Shane Neal and Kim Murphy.

Scores will accumulate during the 10-week contest.

After Week 6, Brian Carroll, Chad Clark and Curt Clark were tied for the top spot with 86. Mike Haden, Gordon Reddoch and Mike Turner had 85. Heath Royal, Doug O'Rear and Jeremy Wormington had 84. Andrea Porter, Caleb Clark, Shane Neal and Ernesto Salas had 83.
