The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office identified a suspect in the stabbing death of Zackary Tilson, whose body was found March 27 on West 85th North, just west of Valley Center.

Jeremy Tipton Shuflat, 37, of Wichita, was booked into jail on a charge of first-degree murder. Shuflat was arrested on March 28 for warrants and was later identified as the suspect in the homicide investigation.

Sheriff Jeff Easter said Tilson's body was found on rocks below the bridge near 85th and Hoover.

Easter said there are no other suspects in the case, which is being forwarded to the district attorney's office.

Sheriff's deputies were in Valley Center March 30 and 31 searching for evidence apparently related to the homicide.

While the investigation continued at the crime scene, several deputies walked up and down Meridian with small white flags, looking for anything suspicious. The attention later focused on a grassy median between Casey's and Sonic on South Meridian in downtown Valley Center, where items were taken from the ground and placed in an evidence bag and in an unmarked can.

Deputies later went to West Main Street, just past the railroad tracks, where a resident found a large duffel bag in her yard. Investigators took the duffel bag, which reportedly had clothing and other items.

The investigation started about 6 a.m. March 27 when deputies were dispatched to the 5500 block of West 85th North on a report of a vehicle parked on the road. Deputies located an unoccupied red Dodge pickup.

As they looked around the area, deputies found an unresponsive man in the ditch. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Sedgwick County firefighters.

Tilson was 26 years old and lived in Wichita.

The sheriff's office said it was not a random crime.
