On Oct. 15, snow covers cars in the lot at Eden's Auto Sales in downtown Valley Center. Sunshine, warmth follow snow and freezing temps By The News staff Last Updated: October 25, 2018 Mittens and stocking caps one day. Shorts and T-shirts the next. It's fall in Kansas, where you often just have to wait to get the weather you like. Valley Center received a trace of snow on Oct. 14. It stayed on lawns, rooftops and windshields until the next day as low temperatures dipped to 32 degrees. Then a warm front moved in and melted all the snow. By the afternoon of Oct. 15, the temperatures reached into the upper 40s and by Oct. 16, high temperatures soared into the mid-60s. The snow was preceded by several rainy days and mild temperatures. The rest of the week, forecasters expect continued mild temps with a high of 58 on Oct. 18, 65 on Oct. 19 and 20 and 59 on Oct. 21. Showers are expected late Oct. 18. With no snow in the 10-day forecast, low temperatures are expected to remain above 40 degrees through late next week. |
