Keep flying the flag

It is a good feeling to see the people in Valley Center flying the American flag. Keep it up.

Sorry, tired of speeding

This is for the gentleman I communicated with so rudely. You were driving south on Emporia and, for reasons we will leave between us, I flipped you the bird as you passed by. We had words, and you chastised me for my communication methods. Mostly, I was trying to get your attention. I am tired of folks speeding up and down my street with no thought of the families who live on our street. I do not see it patrolled and, in the four years living here, I have never seen anyone receiving a ticket of any kind. I am not saying it does not happen, but I observe speeding more than speeding tickets being given out. Because of this, I felt justified, but you were right. I could have found a better way of communicating my concerns with you. For instance, writing a commentary for The Ark Valley News. For this, I apologize.

Support local business

I just want to thank all of the local Valley Center people who drove right by Leeker's on your way to the Mega Store to buy the bulk of your groceries. Thanks a lot. You'll be the same ones complaining that you can't get prescriptions or a dozen eggs locally. This is what happens when you don't shop local — businesses forced to close. Remember, there is also a hardware store and a Dollar General locally, not to mention restaurants and shops to support as well. Let's try to do better.

Time for Dillons?

Since Leeker's is going out of business, I think now would be a good time for the city leaders to contact Dillons about a store. The closest is seven miles away, and I think it would be a good fit for Valley Center.
