Royalty to be crowned

Valley Center High School homecoming king and queen candidates are (front from left) Camille Claussen, Jeannie Qualls, Amber Cox, (back from left) Caleb Rains, Tyler Boone and Michael Charvat. VCHS is celebrating Homecoming Week Sept. 25 through 30. It will culminate with a football game Sept. 29 at the District Stadium, coronation during halftime and a dance on Dec. 30 at the school, beginning at 7 p.m. The theme is “All Around the World."

Camille Claussen

Parents: Dennis and Michelle Claussen

School activities: Volleyball, basketball, track, powerlifting, Letterwomen's Club, Friendship Club, Spanish Club, FCA, prom committee.

In high school, I'm glad I was able to: Be a part of a school that has a lot of school pride for not only academics, but athletics and clubs as well. Also, the opportunity to be so involved in everything.

Post-high school plans: I am currently undecided where I am going, but narrowed the two between Emporia and K-State. I plan to major in secondary education.

Someday, I hope to: Have an impact on others, like my teachers and coaches had on me.

Amber Cox

Parents: Larry and Sandra Cox

School activities: Executive vice president of student council, band section leader, GSA, SADD, National Honor Society, Science Club, Journalism Club.

In high school, I'm glad I was able to: Be such a big part of student council. I love giving my time for the school.

Post-high school plans: K-State for chemistry.

Someday, I hope to: Inspire teens to apply themselves and work for their dreams.

Jeannie Qualls

Parents: Carr and Tina Qualls

School activities: Madrigals, Thespian Society, color guard, Drama Club, band, Environmental Club, Yoga Club, SADD, prom committee.

In high school, I'm glad I was able to: Be a part of so many wonderful activities, especially theater. There's a special home on that stage that I will always remember.

Post-high school plans: Attend Butler Community College and then Washburn University to study political science and theater.

Someday, I hope to: Be a Broadway actress and the later in life a U.S. senator.

Tyler Boone

Parents: Don and Andrea Boone

School activities: Football, wrestling, baseball, student council, Environmental Club, National Honor Society, FCA, schooner mate, HOSA, Link Crew.

In high school, I'm glad I was able to: Play sports and see my mom every day.

Post-high school plans: Go to college and if that falls through, stunt man.

Someday, I hope to: Make a difference in this world and help others.

Michael Charvat

Parents: Tannith Charvat and Cody Charvat

School activities: Drama Club, AV Club, GSA, theater tech crew, Hornet Studios, thespians.

In high school, I'm glad I was able to: Explore a lot of the different opportunities we offer to help me figure out what I want to do after I graduate.

Post-high school plans: I plan to go to Butler Community College with a theater tech scholarship and eventually transfer to WSU to get a bachelor's degree in communications.

Someday, I hope to: Work for some sort of TV studio and be a lead broadcasting technician.

Caleb Rains

Parents: Steve and Robin Rains

School activities: Football, track, FCA, National Honor Society, Varsity Club.

In high school, I'm glad I was able to: Make new friends and build relationships with people.

Post-high school plans: Study urban ministry and business at North Central University.

Someday, I hope to: Have influence in a major city.
