Summer storm damages trees

A summer storm rumbled through Valley Center June 15, knocking down trees and at least one powerline in some areas of the city.

High winds damaged trees in the Valley Meadows neighborhood north of Fifth Street and west of Meridian and in some areas of west Valley Center.

Though some damage was severe, hitting houses and fences, it was isolated.

There were no reports of injuries.

During the storm, the fire department was called to Fourth and Park where a powerline was down.

At Goff and Fieldstone, a couple of trees at the residence were damaged by high winds, sending branches and debris into the road. Neighbors helped with the cleanup.

On Gayle Court in the north part of town, tree branches broke the windshield of a pickup and punctured a rooftop.

In the 600 block of North Birch, a tree was uprooted and crashed into a backyard fence.

Police officers found a tree across the road in the 6500 block of North Interurban.
