Last Updated: December 01, 2016

A preliminary hearing for five people charged in connection with the brutal torture and death of a 33-year-old Wichita man and assault of a woman has been set.

Heidi Hillard, Jeff Hillard, Brian Bussart, Willie Morris and Alexandria Scott are all being held in the Sedgwick County Jail. All but Scott are charged with first-degree murder in Scottie Goodpaster's death.

The 9 a.m. Feb. 2 hearing is scheduled to be in Judge Jeffrey Goering's courtroom at the Sedgwick County Courthouse.

The five had their first appearance Nov. 10. A temporary preliminary hearing date was set at that time. It was subsequently moved at the request of the defendants' legal teams.

Heidi Hillard, 42, and Jeff Hillard, 49, both of Valley Center, were charged with first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, rape and three counts of aggravated battery.

Bussart, 39, was charged with first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and three counts of aggravated battery.

Morris, 55, was charged with first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and three counts of aggravated battery.

Scott, 26, was charged with kidnapping and aggravated robbery.

Authorities allege that Goodpaster and a female victim were tortured behind homes at 1300 and 1310 S. Meridian on Nov. 5 and 6. Goodpaster's body was found in rural Harvey County six days later.
