Poker players play a hand during the third annual tournament to benefit the Valley Center High School football program. Poker tourney draws record crowd By The News staff Last Updated: January 14, 2016 The Valley Center football program's poker tournament on Jan. 10 drew 175 players and raised $15,000. "We had a really good turnout," Caleb Smith said. It was the largest participation in the tournament's three-year history. The money will be used to benefit the football program. Smith said it hasn't been determined yet how the money will be spent. Winning the tournament and receiving $2,500 was Jeff Smith of Wichita. Brian Brauer of Valley Center was second and won $1,000. The tournament was held at Le Venue in downtown Valley Center. |
