The Valley Center football program's poker tournament on Jan. 10 drew 175 players and raised $15,000.

"We had a really good turnout," Caleb Smith said.

It was the largest participation in the tournament's three-year history.

The money will be used to benefit the football program.

Smith said it hasn't been determined yet how the money will be spent.

Winning the tournament and receiving $2,500 was Jeff Smith of Wichita.

Brian Brauer of Valley Center was second and won $1,000.

The tournament was held at Le Venue in downtown Valley Center.
