A sign at the Valley Center swimming pool says the pool is closed as repairs on the pump take place. Pool workers aren't sure when the pool will reopen. Broken pump closes swimming pool Last Updated: July 24, 2014 A broken pump caused the shutdown of the Valley Center public swimming pool July 17, a problem that had not been remedied by at least July 22. Recreation commission officials said recent unseasonably cool and rainy weather raised the phosphorous levels in the pool, which damaged the pump. Officials said there was no way to avoid the problem. The city ordered parts to repair the pump, but was waiting on them to arrive as late as July 22. Meanwhile, without a pump, the pool started getting cloudy and dirty, forcing city workers to do what they could to keep it clean with the hopes of reopening the pool this week. |
