Renovation planned for North Meridian Walmart
By Matt Heilman
Last Updated: July 10, 2014

Six years after it opened, the North Meridian Walmart Supercenter, located just south of Valley Center near 53rd North and Meridian, is ready for a remodel.

Delia Garcia, a spokeswoman for Walmart, confirmed that a $500,000 commercial building permit has been pulled for work that includes interior updates and minor exterior improvements.

Garcia said the work started in late June and will continue until about mid-August. She said work inside the store includes painting, updates to displays, product expansion, a reintroduction to the store's fabrics department and the addition of self-checkouts.

The exterior work includes painting the outside of the store.

"This is an opportunity for us to refresh the store," Garcia said.

Garcia said the remodeling work is not expected to interfere with the store's regular operation.

The North Meridian Walmart Supercenter is open around the clock.
